A 12-BORE BOXLOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 16798,
circa 1905, 28in. replacement nitro barrels (in 1976), rib engraved 'WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO. ENGLAND.' and gold-inlaid '2' at the breech end, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, scroll-back treble-grip action with patent toplever gold-inlaid '2', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, border and acanthus scroll engraving, retaining traces of colour-hardening and finish, 15in. figured stock (some ink enhancement) including 1/2in. leather-covered recoil pad, gold escutcheon engraved 'A.A', weight 6lb. 12oz., in its tan leather case, the lid exterior marked 'A.A.'

Provenance: The vendor has kindly informed us that this gun was formerly the property of Sir Alastair Aird GCVO (1931 - 2009).

Sir Alastair was Equerry to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and Extra Equerry to Queen Elizabeth II
